Landry & Swarr, a leading law firm in New Orleans, Louisiana, has announced a multimillion-dollar jury verdict in favor of three statutory heirs in a mesothelioma case brought against Ford Motor Company and Southern Talc Corporation on behalf of the deceased plaintiff, William A. Oddo, Jr..

Case Details:

On December 6, 2012, the law firm of Landry & Swarr successfully won a multimillion-dollar jury verdict for three statutory heirs in a mesothelioma case. The case was brought on behalf of a deceased 81-year-old, who suffered and died from mesothelioma.

The plaintiff was a career automotive mechanic for the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office and was exposed to asbestos-containing brake pads and shoes sold by Ford Motor Company. Further, the plaintiff was exposed to asbestos contaminated talc manufactured by Southern Talc. The jury awarded the heirs in the case a total of $4,401,393.15, finding Ford Motor Company liable for 65% of the damages and Southern Talc for 35%.

“The Oddo family deserves this verdict. We took it personally when Ford and Southern Talc refused to take responsibility. We stood up for our clients and got justice for them. Of course it does not replace their father and husband, but it gives them some closure that these companies now know what they did was wrong,” says Attorney Frank Swarr of Landry & Swarr.
